    [niv] having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
    [asv] holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away.
    [jnd] having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away.
    [kjv] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

    [niv] They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,
    [asv] For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts,
    [jnd] For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts,
    [kjv] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

    [niv] Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.
    [asv] And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.
    [jnd] Now in the same manner in which Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, thus these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, found worthless as regards the faith.
    [kjv] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
    [nwb] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
    [rsv] As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith;
    [web] Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.
    [ylt] and, even as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, so also these do stand against the truth, men corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith;
    [bbe] And as James and Jambres went against Moses, so do these go against what is true: men of evil minds, who, tested by faith, are seen to be false.
    [niv] But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
    [asv] But they shall proceed no further. For their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be.
    [jnd] But they shall not advance farther; for their folly shall be completely manifest to all, as that of those also became.
    [kjv] But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.
    [nwb] But they shall proceed no further: for their folly will be manifest to all , as theirs also was.
    [rsv] but they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.
    [web] But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be.
    [ylt] but they shall not advance any further, for their folly shall be manifest to all, as theirs also did become.
    [bbe] But they will go no farther: for their foolish behaviour will be clear to all men, as theirs was in the end.

    [jnd] But *thou* hast been thoroughly acquainted with my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, endurance,
    [kjv] But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
    [nwb] But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience,
    [rsv] Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,
    [web] But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,
    [ylt] And thou -- thou hast followed after my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, endurance,
    [bbe] But you took as your example my teaching, behaviour, purpose, and faith; my long waiting, my love, my quiet undergoing of trouble;

    [niv] In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
    [asv] Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
    [jnd] And all indeed who desire to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
    [kjv] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

    [niv] But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
    [asv] But abide thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.
    [jnd] But *thou*, abide in those things which thou hast learned, and thou hast been fully persuaded, knowing of whom thou hast learned ;
    [kjv] But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
    [nwb] But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing from whom thou hast learned ;
