    [bbe] Now after these things the chief servant who had the care of the wine, and the chief bread-maker in Pharaoh's house, did something against Pharaoh's orders;

    [niv] Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,
    [asv] And Pharaoh was wroth against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
    [jnd] And Pharaoh was wroth with his two chamberlains -- with the chief of the cup-bearers and with the chief of the bakers;

    [niv] each of the two men--the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were being held in prison--had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.
    [asv] And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.
    [jnd] And they dreamed a dream, both of them in one night, each his dream, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup-bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were imprisoned in the tower-house.

    [niv] So he asked Pharaoh's officials who were in custody with him in his master's house, "Why are your faces so sad today?"
    [asv] And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in ward in his master's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sad to-day?
    [jnd] And he asked Pharaoh's chamberlains that were with him in custody in his lord's house, saying, Why are your faces sad to-day?

    [bbe] And he said to the servants of Pharaoh who were in prison with him, Why are you looking so sad?
40:8 [cbgb] 他们对他说,我们各人作了一梦,没有人能解。约瑟说,解梦不是出于 神麽?请你们将梦告诉我。 < | >
    [niv] "We both had dreams," they answered, "but there is no one to interpret them." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams."
    [asv] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell it me, I pray you.
    [jnd] And they said to him, We have dreamt a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said to them, not interpretations to God? tell me , I pray you.

    [bbe] Then they said to him, We have had a dream, and no one is able to give us the sense. And Joseph said, Does not the sense of dreams come from God? what was your dream?
40:9 [cbgb] 酒政便将他的梦告诉约瑟说,我梦见在我面前有一棵葡萄树, < | >
    [niv] So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, "In my dream I saw a vine in front of me,

    [niv] and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes.
    [asv] and in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and its blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

    [niv] Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup and put the cup in his hand."
    [asv] and Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
    [jnd] And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

40:13 [cbgb] 三天之内,法老必提你出监,叫你官复原职,你仍要递杯在法老的手中,和先前作他的酒政一样。 < | >
    [niv] Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand, just as you used to do when you were his cupbearer.
    [asv] within yet three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head, and restore thee unto thine office: and thou shalt give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
    [jnd] In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee to thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his cup-bearer.
    [kjv] Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

    [bbe] After three days Pharaoh will give you honour, and put you back into your place, and you will give him his cup as you did before, when you were his wine-servant.
40:14 [cbgb] 但你得好处的时候,求你记念我,施恩与我,在法老面前提说我,救我出这监牢。 < | >
    [niv] But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison.
    [asv] But have me in thy remembrance when it shall be well with thee, and show kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
    [jnd] Only bear a remembrance with thee of me when it goes well with thee, and deal kindly, I pray thee, with me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house;
    [kjv] But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
    [nwb] But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and show kindness to me, I pray thee, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

    [bbe] But keep me in mind when things go well for you, and be good to me and say a good word for me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison:
40:15 [cbgb] 我实在是从希伯来人之地被拐来的。我在这里也没有作过什么,叫他们把我下在监里。 < | >
    [niv] For I was forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon."
    [asv] for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
    [jnd] for indeed I was stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

    [bbe] For truly I was taken by force from the land of the Hebrews; and I have done nothing for which I might be put in prison.
40:16 [cbgb] 膳长见梦解得好,就对约瑟说,我在梦中见我头上顶着三筐白饼。 < | >
    [niv] When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, "I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread.
    [asv] When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head:
    [jnd] And when the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.
    [kjv] When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
    [nwb] When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also in my dream, and behold, three white baskets on my head:
    [rsv] When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, "I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head,

    [bbe] Now when the chief bread-maker saw that the first dream had a good sense, he said to Joseph, I had a dream; and in my dream there were three baskets of white bread on my head;
40:17 [cbgb] 极上的筐子里有为法老烤的各样食物,有飞鸟来吃我头上筐子里的食物。 < | >
    [niv] In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head."
    [asv] and in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of baked food for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
    [jnd] And in the uppermost basket there were all manner of victuals for Pharaoh that the baker makes, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.
    [kjv] And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
    [nwb] And in the uppermost basket of all manner of bake-meats for Pharaoh; and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.

    [niv] "This is what it means," Joseph said. "The three baskets are three days.

40:19 [cbgb] 三天之内,法老必斩断你的头,把你挂在木头上,必有飞鸟来吃你身上的肉。 < | >
    [niv] Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and hang you on a tree. And the birds will eat away your flesh."
    [asv] within yet three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

    [niv] Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his officials. He lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker in the presence of his officials:
    [asv] And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants.
    [jnd] And it came to pass the third day -- Pharaoh's birthday -- that he made a feast to all his bondmen. And he lifted up the head of the chief of the cup-bearers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his bondmen.
    [kjv] And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
    [nwb] And it came to pass the third day, Pharaoh's birth-day, that he made a feast to all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

    [bbe] Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his servants; and he gave honour to the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker among the others.
