    [niv] The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
    [asv] Now in the things which we are saying the chief point is this: We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
    [jnd] Now a summary of the things of which we are speaking , We have such a one high priest who has sat down on right hand of the throne of the greatness in the heavens;
    [kjv] Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
    [nwb] Now of the things which we have spoken the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
    [rsv] Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
    [web] . Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
    [ylt] And the sum concerning the things spoken of we have such a chief priest, who did sit down at the right hand of the throne of the greatness in the heavens,
    [bbe] Now of the things we are saying this is the chief point: We have such a high priest, who has taken his place at the right hand of God's high seat of glory in heaven,
    [niv] and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.
    [asv] a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.
    [jnd] minister of the holy places and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord has pitched, not man.
    [kjv] A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
    [nwb] A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
    [rsv] a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord.
    [web] a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tent, which the Lord pitched, not man.
    [ylt] of the holy places a servant, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord did set up, and not man,
    [bbe] As a servant of the holy things and of the true Tent, which was put up by God, not by man.
    [niv] Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.
    [asv] For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that this high priest also have somewhat to offer.
    [jnd] For every high priest is constituted for the offering both of gifts and sacrifices; whence it is needful that this one also should have something which he may offer.
    [kjv] For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
    [nwb] For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore of necessity that this man should have somewhat also to offer.
    [rsv] For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.
    [web] For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.
    [ylt] for every chief priest to offer both gifts and sacrifices is appointed, whence necessary for this one to have also something that he may offer;
    [bbe] Now every high priest is given authority to take to God the things which are given and to make offerings; so that it is necessary for this man, like them, to have something for an offering.
    [niv] If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.
    [asv] Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are those who offer the gifts according to the law;
    [jnd] If then indeed he were upon earth, he would not even be a priest, there being those who offer the gifts according to the law,
    [kjv] For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
    [nwb] For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, seeing there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
    [rsv] Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law.
    [web] For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law;
    [ylt] for if, indeed, he were upon earth, he would not be a priest -- (there being the priests who are offering according to the law, the gifts,
    [bbe] If he had been on earth he would not have been a priest at all, because there are other priests who make the offerings ordered by the law;
    [niv] They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."
    [asv] who serve that which is a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses is warned of God when he is about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern that was showed thee in the mount.
    [jnd] (who serve the representation and shadow of heavenly things, according as Moses was oracularly told about to make the tabernacle; for See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern which has been shewn to thee in the mountain.)
    [kjv] Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
    [nwb] Who serve to the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished by God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See (saith he) thou make all things according to the pattern shown to thee in the mount.
    [rsv] They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary; for when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain."
    [web] who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tent, for, "See," he said, "that you make all things according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain."
    [ylt] who unto an example and shadow do serve of the heavenly things, as Moses hath been divinely warned, being about to construct the tabernacle, for `See (saith He) thou mayest make all things according to the pattern that was shewn to thee in the mount;') --
    [bbe] Being servants of that which is a copy and an image of the things in heaven, as Moses, when he was about to make the Tent, had special orders from God: for, See, he said, that you make everything like the design which you saw in the mountain.
    [niv] But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.
    [asv] But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises.
    [jnd] But now he has got a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is mediator of a better covenant, which is established on the footing of better promises.
    [kjv] But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
    [nwb] But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
    [rsv] But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry which is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.
    [web] But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
    [ylt] and now he hath obtained a more excellent service, how much also of a better covenant is he mediator, which on better promises hath been sanctioned,
    [bbe] But now his position as priest is higher. because through him God has made a better agreement with man, based on the giving of better things.
    [niv] For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.
    [asv] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second.
    [jnd] For if that first was faultless, place had not been sought for a second.
    [kjv] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
    [nwb] For if that first had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for the second.
    [rsv] For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second.
    [web] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
    [ylt] for if that first were faultless, a place would not have been sought for a second.
    [bbe] For if that first agreement had been as good as possible, there would have been no place for a second.
    [niv] But God found fault with the people and said : "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
    [asv] For finding fault with them, he saith,  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,  That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
    [jnd] For finding fault, he says to them, Behold, days come, saith the Lord, and I will consummate a new covenant as regards the house of Israel, and as regards the house of Juda;
    [kjv] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
    [nwb] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
    [rsv] For he finds fault with them when he says: "The days will come, says the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
    [web] For finding fault with them, he said,"Behold, the days come," says the Lord,"That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
    [ylt] For finding fault, He saith to them, `Lo, days come, saith the Lord, and I will complete with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah, a new covenant,
    [bbe] For, protesting against them, he says, See, the days are coming when I will make a new agreement with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah;
    [niv] It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.
    [asv] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers  In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt;  For they continued not in my covenant,  And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
    [jnd] not according to the covenant which I made to their fathers in day of my taking their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because *they* did not continue in my covenant, and *I* did not regard them, saith Lord.
    [kjv] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
    [nwb] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
    [rsv] not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and so I paid no heed to them, says the Lord.
    [web] . Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers,In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt;For they didn't continue in my covenant,And I disregarded them," says the Lord.
    [ylt] not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of My taking by their hand, to bring them out of the land of Egypt -- because they did not remain in My covenant, and I did not regard them, saith the Lord, --
    [bbe] Not like the agreement which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand, to be their guide out of the land of Egypt; for they did not keep the agreement with me, and I gave them up, says the Lord.
    [niv] This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
    [asv] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel  After those days, saith the Lord;  I will put my laws into their mind,  And on their heart also will I write them:  And I will be to them a God,  And they shall be to me a people:
    [jnd] Because this the covenant that I will covenant to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: Giving my laws into their mind, I will write them also upon their hearts; and I will be to them for God, and *they* shall be to me for people.
    [kjv] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
    [nwb] For this the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
    [rsv] This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
    [web] . "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel.After those days," says the Lord;"I will put my laws into their mind,I will also write them on their heart.I will be to them a God,And they will be to me a people.
    [ylt] because this the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith the Lord, giving My laws into their mind, and upon their hearts I will write them, and I will be to them for a God, and they shall be to Me for a people;
    [bbe] For this is the agreement which I will make with the people of Israel after those days: I will put my laws into their minds, writing them in their hearts: and I will be their God, and they will be my people:
    [niv] No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, `Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
    [asv] And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen,  And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:  For all shall know me,  From the least to the greatest of them.
    [jnd] And they shall not teach each his fellow-citizen, and each his brother, saying, Know the Lord; because all shall know me in themselves, from little one unto great among them.
    [kjv] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
    [nwb] And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
    [rsv] And they shall not teach every one his fellow or every one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
    [web] . They will not teach every man his fellow citizen,Every man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,'For all will know me,From the least of them to the greatest of them.
    [ylt] and they shall not teach each his neighbour, and each his brother, saying, Know thou the Lord, because they shall all know Me from the small one of them unto the great one of them,
    [bbe] And there will be no need for every man to be teaching his brother, or his neighbour, saying, This is the knowledge of the Lord: for they will all have knowledge of me, great and small.
    [niv] For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
    [asv] For I will be merciful to their iniquities,  And their sins will I remember no more.
    [jnd] Because I will be merciful to their unrighteousnesses, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will never remember any more.
    [kjv] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
    [nwb] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
    [rsv] For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."
    [web] . For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness.I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more."
    [ylt] because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will remember no more;' --
    [bbe] And I will have mercy on their evil-doing, and I will not keep their sins in mind.
    [niv] By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
    [asv] In that he saith, A new covenant he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.
    [jnd] In that he says New, he has made the first old; but that which grows old and aged near disappearing.
    [kjv] In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
    [nwb] In that he saith, A new , he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and groweth old ready to vanish away.
    [rsv] In speaking of a new covenant he treats the first as obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
    [web] . In that he says, "A new covenant," he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.
    [ylt] in the saying `new,' He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old nigh disappearing.
    [bbe] When he says, A new agreement, he has made the first agreement old. But anything which is getting old and past use will not be seen much longer..
