    [asv] And Jehovah said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people;
    [jnd] And Jehovah said to Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none make himself unclean for a dead person among his peoples,
    [kjv] And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

    [bbe] And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the priests, the sons of Aaron, Let no man make himself unclean for the dead among his people;

    [niv] except for a close relative, such as his mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother,

    [niv] or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband--for her he may make himself unclean.
    [asv] and for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him, that hath had no husband; for her may he defile himself.
    [jnd] and for his sister, a virgin, that is near unto him, who hath had no husband, for her may he make himself unclean.
    [kjv] And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

    [niv] He must not make himself unclean for people related to him by marriage, and so defile himself.
    [asv] He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
    [jnd] He shall not make himself unclean a chief among his peoples, to profane himself.
    [kjv] But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
    [nwb] he shall not defile himself, a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

    [niv] "`Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.
    [asv] They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

    [niv] They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy.
    [asv] They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
    [jnd] They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they present Jehovah's offerings by fire, the bread of their God; therefore shall they be holy.

    [niv] "`They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God.
    [asv] They shall not take a woman that is a harlot, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.
    [jnd] They shall not take as wife a whore, or a dishonoured woman; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God.

    [bbe] They may not take as wife a loose or common woman, or one who has been put away by her husband: for the priest is holy to his God.

    [niv] Regard them as holy, because they offer up the food of your God. Consider them holy, because I the LORD am holy--I who make you holy.
    [asv] Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I Jehovah, who sanctify you, am holy.
    [jnd] And thou shalt hallow him; for the bread of thy God doth he present: he shall be holy unto thee; for I, Jehovah, who hallow you am holy.

21:9 [cbgb] 祭司的女儿若行淫辱没自己,就辱没了父亲,必用火将她焚烧。 < | >
    [niv] "`If a priest's daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; she must be burned in the fire.
    [asv] And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
    [jnd] And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burned with fire.
    [kjv] And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
    [nwb] And the daughter of any priest, if she shall profane herself by lewdness, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
    [rsv] And the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the harlot, profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.
    [web] The daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the prostitute, she profanes her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
    [ylt] `And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring -- her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.
    [bbe] And if the daughter of a priest makes herself common and by her loose behaviour puts shame on her father, let her be burned with fire.
21:10 [cbgb] 在弟兄中作大祭司,头上倒了膏油,又承接圣职,穿了圣衣的,不可蓬头散发,也不可撕裂衣服。 < | >
    [niv] "`The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes.
    [asv] And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head go loose, nor rend his clothes;
    [jnd] And the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured, and who is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his garments.
    [kjv] And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

    [rsv] "The priest who is chief among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose, nor rend his clothes;

    [ylt] `And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,
    [bbe] And he who is the chief priest among his brothers, on whose head the holy oil has been put, who is marked out to put on the holy robes, may not let his hair go loose or have his clothing out of order as a sign of sorrow.
21:11 [cbgb] 不可挨近死尸,也不可为父母沾染自己。 < | >
    [niv] He must not enter a place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even for his father or mother,
    [asv] neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
    [jnd] Neither shall he come near any person dead, nor make himself unclean for his father and for his mother;

    [niv] nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD.
    [asv] neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am Jehovah.

    [niv] "`The woman he marries must be a virgin.
    [asv] And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

    [niv] "Say to Aaron: `For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God.
    [asv] Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed throughout their generations that hath a blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
    [jnd] Speak unto Aaron, saying, Any of thy seed throughout their generations that hath any defect, shall not approach to present the bread of his God;
    [kjv] Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
    [nwb] Speak to Aaron, saying, whoever of thy seed in their generations that hath blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God:
    [rsv] "Say to Aaron, None of your descendants throughout their generations who has a blemish may approach to offer the bread of his God.
    [web] Speak to Aaron, saying, Whoever he be of your seed throughout their generations that has a blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

    [bbe] Say to Aaron, If a man of your family, in any generation, is damaged in body, let him not come near to make the offering of the bread of his God.

    [niv] No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed;
    [asv] For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or anything superfluous,
    [jnd] for whatever man hath a defect, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or one limb longer than the other,

21:20 [cbgb] 驼背的,矮矬的,眼睛有毛病的,长癣的,长疥的,或是损坏肾子的,都不可近前来。 < | >
    [niv] or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles.
    [asv] or crook-backed, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or is scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
    [jnd] or hump-backed, or withered, or that hath a spot in his eye, or hath the itch, or scabs, or his testicles broken.
    [kjv] Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

    [bbe] Or one whose back is bent, or one who is unnaturally small, or one who has a damaged eye, or whose skin is diseased, or whose sex parts are damaged;
21:21 [cbgb] 祭司亚伦的后裔,凡有残疾的,都不可近前来,将火祭献给耶和华。他有残疾,不可近前来献 神的食物。 < | >
    [niv] No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the offerings made to the LORD by fire. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God.
    [asv] no man of the seed of Aaron the priest, that hath a blemish, shall come nigh to offer the offerings of Jehovah made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
    [jnd] No man of the seed of Aaron the priest that hath defect shall come near to present Jehovah's offerings by fire: he hath a defect; he shall not come near to present the bread of his God.

    [bbe] No man of the offspring of Aaron whose body is damaged in any way may come near to give the fire offerings of the Lord: he is damaged, he may not come near to make the offerings.

    [niv] He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food;

    [niv] yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the LORD, who makes them holy. '"
    [asv] only he shall not go in unto the veil, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I am Jehovah who sanctifieth them.
    [jnd] only he shall not come in unto the veil, nor shall he draw near unto the altar; for he hath a defect: that he profane not my sanctuaries; for I am Jehovah who do hallow them.
